Consulting Case Studies
Getting off on the right foot
A team of three people who had previously worked together came to AGH as they were about to start their own company. As is the case with many start-up businesses, ideas and possibilities were limitless. We first sat down with the entrepreneurs and talked about each of their individual goals to establish what each person’s separate function in the company would be. Although it sounds straightforward, many entrepreneurs don't take this important first step. Some of the information the team shared with one another came as a surprise. But that initial meeting defined their expectations and goals right away, avoiding later conflicts. Through this meeting, AGH was able to create a business structure that meets everyone's goals, including how to exit when the time comes.
Mid-course correction
A closely-held business client told AGH that they weren't happy with how their business was progressing—and they weren’t sure why. We met with the owners and the management team and analyzed the company’s numbers as well as the functions of each key member of the organization. We discovered that miscommunication was frequently muddling how the business operated. We were able to facilitate a discussion that determined a structure with specific areas of authority and responsibility so that the company could run more smoothly without team members “playing in each other’s sandboxes.” By putting new processes in place to enhance communication going forward, we were able to help re-chart the company’s course to success.
